The mural is hoped to be completed in time for the official opening of the ramp on Saturday, 18 November 2017, which will be attended by the Mayor and other interested Councillors.
The mural will be a combined work of local artists Margaret Shepherd and Sally Wilson along with some high school students from the Links to Learning group.
Seven male students from the year 8 group will be undertaking the works with Mrs Shepherd and Ms Wilson.
They have been to the site and measured the project, created the design and are now trialing some paint and designs.
The project depends on funding that the group has applied for.
