So far, courses in basic woodwork and welding have been undertaken.
These are conducted on days other than the normal shed days of Monday and Wednesday.
Consequently, those under instruction have joined as associate members and their membership fee of $30 ensures that they are fully insured when working at the shed.
Participants have selected a variety of projects, ranging from repairs and restorations to new items of furniture, and even sculptures.
While it is pleasing to see the shed being used by others in the community, the primary objective of the Men’s Shed is the health and welfare of older men in our community.
The Men’s Shed will be closed over the Christmas holiday period from December 20 and will reopen on January 8.
The Master’s Call
Let me work in the shed by the side of the road, where the race of men go by,
The men who are good, the men who are bad, as good or as bad as I.
I would not sit in the sinner’s seat nor hurl the cynics ban
Just let me work in the shed by the side of the road and be a friend to man.
As the years roll on, and I hear the master’s call.
I hope and pray that I’ll hear him say, well done,
You’ve worked in the shed by the side of the road and been a help to all.
