Goulburn 1's went through the weekend undefeated with six wins and a draw taking out the NSW title in division 2, defeating the much fancied Central Coast association 8-1.
Goulburn was well led by Kizziah Plumb and Laura Gray who brought a wealth of experience to the team with Kizziah having played for Australia at indoor competitions and Laura Gray just being named in the Australian Hockeyroos’ development squad.
This together with the youth of the team and the Goulburn Men's Geckos captain as coach, Aaron Kershaw, gave Goulburn a distinct advantage going into the final, having developed some good combinations over the course of the weekend.
This enabled the girls to dominate the final and be named state champions for 2017.
Goulburn 2's didn't fair as well, struggling with numbers on day one due to work and school commitments.
However, their improvement during the weekend is to be commended and the spirit in which these girls approached their weekend could not of been any better.
They will be in division 2 again next year, and look forward to the continuing development of Goulburn Hockey.
