The Spackman Motors-sponsored ‘Jack Lillyman Day’ also doubled as the annual “lefties vs righties” challenge. With all the hype in the lead-up, expectations were the lefties could finally lift the shield, but the results told a different story. The righties proved too strong, averaging 2.5 points more.
The rest of us look forward to 12 more months of reviews, leadership challenges, training camps, hollow promises and idle banter. Their glory days, the Gordon Schliebs era, haven’t been seen by some of the junior members.
The weekend’s single stableford returned some hot scores with both grades being won by 40 points: Mick Secomb, A grade; Peter Reid, B grade; Rod McIntosh, runner-up A, 39; and John Roberts, runner-up B, 39.
