Time to end the use of single-use plastic bags
The ban will be in place mid-next year and the NSW Premier has been encouraged to introduce a similar ban across NSW.
Australians use up to an estimated 4-billion light-weight plastic bags a year.
South Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory and the ACT have already banned the bag, with Queensland joining them.
