The book recounts how over many decades the contributions from members of the Crookwell and Taralga communities had the vision and dedication to achieve their goal of providing facilities and care for their respective aged members.  

Today, the aged care facilities of Viewhaven Lodge, Crookwell and Phillip Chalker Sunset Lodge, Taralga are testament to this incredible drive and compassion.  

The organisation continues to provide exceptional care, beyond measure, for its many residents and clients and now employs over 110 staff and has a host of loyal volunteers.

The book will be officially launched on Tuesday December 12 at the Crookwell Memorial Hall at 2.00pm.  

An invitation is extended to anyone in the community to attend the launch, including those who have played a role in the organisation’s journey.

The book has been researched and written by Mr Keith Brown whose wife Evelyn was a resident at Viewhaven Lodge.  

Keith, who is the author of two other historical books, has provided an informative and captivating account of what can be achieved when communities pull together.  

CEO Jo Boyce said, “What really comes out in the book, is the outstanding spirit of so many people – ordinary folk – who worked side by side to make the earlier Banfield House and Harley Nursing Homes and now Viewhaven Lodge and Sunset Lodge the successes they have been and continue to be for the older members of our community.”

Copies of the book will be available at the launch for a cost of $18 each.  

The cost of printing of the book and all proceeds from sales will be donated to Viewhaven Lodge in memory of Keith’s wife Evelyn who recently passed away.
