Council’s general manager, John Bell, said the committee will investigate the feasibility of a hydrotherapy and heated pool for Crookwell and assess the performance and adequacy of existing pools in the Upper Lachlan Shire.
The community group behind the hydrotherapy pool proposal is seeking Council to investigate a small hydrotherapy and lap pool with multi purpose room, showers, toilets and office all within one building.
This could include a multipurpose room for teenage meetings, exercise groups, community meetings and more. The lap pool could be used for training, learn to swim classes and water aerobics. The hydrotherapy pool used for joint operations, injury recovery and warm water exercise.
They are looking to encompass the use of solar power on the roofing to reduce heat pump systems and air conditioning costs.
The facility would offer warm water swimming all the year round. Their aim is to achieve a complex under one million dollars that is cost effective to run into the future. They suggest the complex be built beside the current Crookwell pool.
The committee will consist of two Councillors, two staff members and two community members and will report back its recommendations to Council within six months.
