In 2016, 16,084 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed, including 150 males and 15,934 females. It is estimated the risk of breast cancer by the age of 85 is one in eight.
Free mammograms are available every two years to all Australian women aged 40 and over who do not have any symptoms of breast disease.
