The Crookwell Golf Club is again hosting the Girls Big Night In. The night is a fun annual community event to raise funds for breast cancer research.

The evening features a two-course buffet dinner and cocktail on arrival, special guest speaker, items for sale and chocolate wheel prizes. It is scheduled for next Saturday, January 20. To book, call 0409 321 504.

Last year, the event raised $2762.35 on the evening. The guest speaker was Therese Harris (known as Tom McIntosh to locals), who is one of only 117 Jane McGrath endorsed breast care nurses in Australia.

In 2016, 16,084 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed, including 150 males and 15,934 females. It is estimated the risk of breast cancer by the age of 85 is one in eight.

Free mammograms are available every two years to all Australian women aged 40 and over who do not have any symptoms of breast disease.
