This year, the 27-year-old form Crookwell has been selected to play for Australia in her new code.
In 2017, Gann was playing League Tag for Goulburn Workers Club Bulldogs when she was asked to try Oz Tag in Canberra.
She had worked her way up through the ranks, developing her game while playing league for two years with the Crookwell She-Devils, making the move to the Goulburn Workers’ league tag side early last year.
This proved to be a great move and an exciting code change for Gann as she has now been selected to play for the Australian Oz Tag team at the World Cup in November.
Her selection was made during the Australian championships held in Coffs Harbour in November last year.
The ACT team were runners-up at the championship, but Gann was named Player’s Player for the tournament.
In December last year, Gann also travelled to New Zealand to play the Kiwis in the Tag Challenge Cup.
The ACT team dominated, bringing home gold in the senior division and winning silver overall in the opens.
Closer to home, the Workers Bulldogs league tag side came runners-up for the 2017 season.
Gann was co-captain of the team and awarded ‘best and fairest’ for the season.
Gann said she had worked hard to earn the opportunity to represent Australia.
She said she was “so excited” to be rewarded in this way for her hours of training and dedication.
“My family and friends have been so supportive,” Gann said, “Especially my husband and my two little girls, aged five and seven, who are so proud of me. That makes it all worth it.”
