The Crookwell AP&H Society can now implement the first stage of its $1 million planned transformation program following receipt of a $275,000 major funding package from Member for Goulburn and Cabinet Minister Pru Goward through the NSW Government’s ‘Stronger Country Communities Fund’.

Ms Goward advised Crookwell Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Society president Paul Anderson that the NSW Government, through its ‘Stronger Country Communities Fund’, was deeply committed to playing a major role in enabling regional communities to develop key infrastructures essential for development and improved quality of life.
“Both Gladys Berejiklian as NSW Premier and myself as Member for Goulburn are determined that regions and communities like Crookwell get their fair share of NSW’s new-found prosperity,” Ms Goward said.
“The Crookwell Showground, under the auspices of the Crookwell AP&H Society, is a major community facility central to Crookwell in the Southern Uplands and to the region’s development, both in rural and tourism, with the latter now to benefit from the completion of sealing of the Goulburn-Bathurst State Road 54.”
Mr Anderson, who was Crookwell AP&H secretary for 14 years and now in his first term as president, welcomed the $275,000 grant as a “truly transformational moment” in the plan to bring the Showground into the 21st century and ensure it delivers facilities equal to its presence as the springboard to the Sydney, Bendigo and Melbourne shows.
“With 140 years of annual shows, our facilities are stretched in age and scale, but now our local Member and NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian have truly delivered, and the Crookwell AP&H Society is greatly thankful,” Mr Anderson said.
The Southern Uplands’ Crookwell AP&H annual show is now leading Canberra in quality and importance in sheep and cattle; moreover, the February Crookwell Show is the big stepping stone to the Sydney Royal Easter Show in March, the Bendigo Australia Sheep and Wool Show in July, and the Royal Melbourne Show in September.
