Laggan locals Rick Cummins and his sister Sheena, along with her husband Robbie Pearson, have recently purchased the church.

“With the popularity and growth of Laggan in recent years, it seemed to be the perfect piece of real estate to buy and develop,” Mr Cummins said. “With the Laggan Pantry, Willowtree Gardens, Laggan Hotel and busy monthly markets attracting many visitors to the village, the church will be one more added attraction in time.”

The church was built in 1922 and sits on a little over one acre of rich Laggan soil.

The church neighbours the Laggan school and borders other private residences along Woodhouselee Road.

The block’s high elevation brings with it beautiful views overlooking the east and southeast. The church and block will be used for guest accommodation.

“We are really excited to own the church as it has so much potential,” Mr Cummins said.

“The grounds are very sheltered and private and the outlook is amazing.

“We are still in the development stage of the plans, but we will be retaining the beauty of the church.”

One of the other churches in Laggan has also been purchased and converted into a beautiful bed and breakfast.

The new owners are also happy to have had the opportunity to restore the church and to be able to use it by sharing its heritage and history with so many who visit.

Many churches are now being sold to private purchasers with the same ideas coming forward, restyling them for accommodation.
