Crookwell kicked off to start the two sides that have had great clashes in the past.
The Devils had the downhill advantage in the first half, that was soon noticeable when Billy Cramp made a break and put Rhys Secomb away for a try, which put Crookwell in the lead 4-0. Moments later Rhys, untouched scored close to the sticks after a penalty tap. Crookwell lead 10-0.
Crookwell had the better of the 1st half and looked to hold that score until half time, but some poor defence let Yass in to make the scores 10-6 at halftime.
The wheels fell off in the second half with 4 unanswered tries in a blink of an eye to put Crookwell on the back foot for the rest of the game.
This was all from Crookwell’s silly piggy back penalties and soft grab tackles. With a 20% possession rate in the second half Crookwell was no match for this 1st grade Yass side. Final score 40-14.
Billy Cramp and Rhys Secomb were unstoppable in the early stages, Rhys was also named Players Player with what was a great debut for the youngster in the Crookwell colours.
Good games from C. Dawson, B.Rudd, J.McDougall, K.Hancock & S.Keel. The Patterson Twins played very well with limited opportunities.
Jaden Vlahogianis was injured halfway through the 1st half and was surely missed.
Welcome to coaching Mitch McGeechan, I would not like to be going to the Crookwell Youth League training Tuesday night.
