The She Devils took on the University of Canberra Grizzlies in there first game of the 2018 season on a very hot Sunday afternoon.

Both teams fielded new look sides from last year and the first half was a deadlock with both teams going through there set plays trying to work out a weakness in each others defence.
Crookwell came close to scoring twice in the half but were denied, going to the break nil all.
With the down hill run and 5min into the second half Danica Lenane for Crookwell broke through the Grizzlies line to post first points, the try was converted by Tatum lenane.
Not long after, a well placed kick saw the ball roll into the Grizzlies in goal with Crookwell’s Jayde Della in hot pursuit.
With a beautiful dive Jayde beat the opposition to the ball to slap it down for the She Devils second try of the day. Annika Picker stepped up to add the 2 points, with a great kick from out wide taking the score to 12 nil.
The Grizzlies worked hard to stay in the game and they were rewarded for there effort when some lazy goal line defence from Crookwell saw them score and convert with 3 min to go, taking the score to 12/6.
The She Devils played smart from the restart, slowing the play the balls down and running the clock down to take the game and the first 2 points of the season.
Best and Fairest points for Crookwell went to there captain Heidi Chudleigh 1point, Annika Picker 2 points and there co captain Bec Boothman 3 points.
As the whistle blew it was the Devils in front, 12-6.
