In ‘A’ grade 1v4 Hawkeyes were again too strong for their opposition, this time defeating Fluffy Tension 186 to 116. In the second ‘A’ grade match 3v4 Volleys and Springers fought a very close tussle with the lead changing several times during the evening and Volleys the eventual winners 155 to 151 after going into the final set 5 points behind. Thus next weeks ‘A’ grade final is Hawkeyes Vs Volleys. In ‘B’ grade 1v4 Cheers defeated Woolies 181 to 167 in a very entertaining match however Cheers always appeared to have the goods. In the 3v4 ‘B’ grade match Bushflies defeated C & C 183 to 147 to progress to the final and set up a rematch of last year’s Final against Cheers.

Report from Round 1 – April 8
Youth League 14 Yass Magpies 40
Sunny and hot conditions faced Crookwell VS Yass in the under 19’s Youth League game on Sunday. Crookwell kicked off to start the two sides that have had great clashes in the past. The Devils had the downhill advantage in the first half, that was soon noticeable when Billy Cramp made a break and put Rhys Secomb away for a try, which put Crookwell in the lead 4-0. Moments later Rhys, untouched scored close to the sticks after a penalty tap. Crookwell lead 10-0. Crookwell had the better of the 1st half and looked to hold that score until half time, but some poor defence let Yass in to make the scores 10-6 at halftime. The wheels fell off in the second half with 4 unanswered tries in a blink of an eye to put Crookwell on the back foot for the rest of the game. This was all from Crookwell’s silly piggy back penalties and soft grab tackles. With a 20 percent possession rate in the second half Crookwell was no match for this 1st grade Yass side. Final score 40-14. Billy Cramp and Rhys Secomb were unstoppable in the early stages, Rhys was also named Players Player in what was a great debut. - Phil Cramp
