This is the first of 28 turbines contracted by Global Power Generation and General Electric Secure Wind Turbine.
“A historic day. For the first time the sun rises on a turbine on the Crookwell 2 Windfarm,” Charlie Prell posted on Facebook, with a picture of the turbine.
“This is a GE 3.4mW turbine. The first of 28 that will help the ACT Government achieve their 100 [percent] renewable energy target. Only 27 to go now!”
Mr Prell is housing nine turbines on his property.
The 91 MW Crookwell 2 Wind Farm near will produce over of 300,000 megawatt-hours of power during the average year, with zero carbon emissions.
South east of Crookwell, the project covers two thousand hectares of agricultural land.
