Even though the weather was bad, it was a good day at the annual Crookwell Potato Festival. The feedback was very positive, the children enjoyed themselves, and the organisation was smooth throughout the day; everything from the calibre of the markets and the stalls on display, to the cooking area, brilliant with Crookwell High School catering delicious foods. The stalls were so popular, so much so that some sold out.

The volunteers did a great job at the gate and around the Showgrounds. I want to thank the sponsors for their sponsorship to enable us to do great things.
Costa Georgiadis was brilliant. Not many people may know that he stayed overnight and on Sunday went to the venues again to look at the art show, book show, community gardens and advertised the beautiful colours of Autumn in Crookwell.
The Ambassador of Ireland, His Excellency Breandán Ó Caollaí, and his wife also enjoyed the festival very much, so much so that they have indicated that they will visit again next year.
Overall, the numbers were down, but that was to be expected because of the weather on the day. People came from Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland and throughout NSW; but the locals braved that weather and came out to the potato festival, and for that we thank you.
We as a committee will be working for a bigger and better festival next year and anyone who is interested in joining the committee can contact me.
