For a week’s notice, Danica Lenane was pretty happy with how the Crookwell Green Devils’ Ladies’ Day went down.

Overall, the day raised over $2,100 for the Crookwell District Hospital, and Lenane was thrilled that the community and even the Boorowa teams were so supportive.
“Locals helping locals, they know what it’s like,” she said.
“Country rugby league is great [for its community spirit].”
The She Devils have organised a Ladies’ Day for the last four years, but this year was the first time that they chose to support a local charity.
After the resounding success of last weekend’s event, Lenane said that she and the team were going to aim to continue supporting the hospital in years to come.
“Definitely, I think all us girls have decided that we really wanna keep giving to Crookwell Hospital,” she said.
“I mean, half of us after a game of footy end up there through the week anyway, so we definitely wanna stay local.”
All three grades of the Crookwell Green Devils played at Crookwell Memorial Oval last weekend, and Sunday was kicked off by the She Devils.
The match resulted in a comfortable win for the home side, 32-10, but the highlight for Lenane was how eager the Boorowa Rovers were to help with Ladies’ Day.
The She Devils were initially supposed to play between the Youth League and the Senior Men, however last Friday night Lenane received a suggestion that the girls should play first and spend the rest of the day fundraising.
“I messaged [Boorowa] the Friday night and within half an hour they said ‘That’s great, we’ll do anything to help’,” Lenane said.
Thus, the girls took to the field first at 12:00pm and won comfortably, which Lenane said was a result of their improved cohesion as a side.
“We played really well,” she said.
“We’ve got such a new side, and it’s taken us a while to gel together.
When you put your minds together and you play for something, it turns out a bit better. I think us girls did really well.”
They were followed by the Youth League at 1:20pm, who clinched a nailbiting victory over the combined Harden/Boorowa team 26-24.
The Senior Men played last at 2:30pm, and hammered a strong Rovers side, 56-6, in a one-sided affair.
