Both teams started strong until the eighth minute when the Rovers knocked on in their own half, which led to the first points of the match going to Dion 'Fui' Aramoana.
The conversion was successful by Cameron Picker, which gave the Devils a 6-0 lead.
The second try came off another knock on from the Rovers, with the Devils' Ben Cummins capitalising and going over, and the score rose to 10-0 after an unsuccessful conversion.
In the 18th minute, not to be outdone by his big brother, Steve Cummins reeled in an intercept to run over 50 metres and put another four points on the board for the Devils, with Cameron Picker successfully converting again to take the score to 16-0.
The points kept coming for the Devils in the first half with captain Ben Picker going over the line from dummy half, making the score 22-0.
Boorowa's discipline was lacking, and they gave away two consecutive penalties which allowed young Billie Cramp to come off the bench with a nice little 'show and go' to get over the line. The conversion was again successful with the Devils leading 28-0.
Right on the stroke of half time, Steve Cummins scored his second try with a nice little short side play. An unsuccessful conversion meant the Devils went to the sheds leading 32-0 at half time.
There was no shortage of points in the second half, with the Rovers conceding another two consecutive penalties, which allowed Billie Cramp his second try of the match taking the score to 38-0.
The Devils’ defence was strong, but four penalties awarded to the Rovers within 20 metres of their line meant that the Rovers were able to cross for their one and only try of the game and a successful conversion, took the score to 38-6 in the 53rd minute.
The Rovers had a lot of ball for the next six minutes, after more penalties went their way.
Then Ben Cummins scored his second for the day after a re-gather from a Rovers kick with some broken play. Cameron Picker's goal was successful and took the score to 44-6.
In the 63rd minute, second rower Jayden 'Steady' Eddy ran a nice line to score right next to the sticks, making it easy for Cameron Picker to put another two points on the board.
At the 68th minute, James 'Spud' Weir scored his first try of the year off a good ball from Ben Picker. Cameron Picker finished off the points for the day, converting the final try, taking the final score to 56-6 the Devils victorious once again.
Player's Player went to Joe 'Rooster' Cummins, who also got the three points.
Two points went to Jayden 'Steady' Eddy and one point went to Captain Ben Picker who had solid defence all day.
This completes the first round of the competition, which sees the Crookwell Green Devils in second place (due to for and against) but on equal points with Harden and North Canberra.
The long weekend will see the boys having a rest, and back ready to take on the UC Grizzlies in Canberra on Saturday 16th June.
