Among them was the late Dr Keith Beck.
Dr Beck was posthumously awarded a Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division for his service to medicine.
It was a fitting tribute to a deeply respected former member of the Crookwell community.
Dr Beck held a range of roles throughout his long and distinguished career, which included working as a general practitioner in Crookwell from 1957 to 1972.
During his time in Crookwell, Dr Beck was trusted and respected by his patients and all who knew him.
While in Crookwell he was also awarded the Ambulance Medal and was behind a fundraising drive that attracted a new ambulance for the town.
After 15 years in Crookwell, Dr Beck went on to work as a general practitioner and practice manager in Goulburn and a general practitioner and locum in Wauchope.
Dr Beck was also a foundation member of the NSW Branch of the Australian Association of Practice Managers, a member of the Rural Doctor’s Network, and a member of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
On behalf of the council and the community, I would like to acknowledge Dr Beck’s significant contribution to the Crookwell township, and congratulate his family on this wonderful recognition of his service to medicine.
