A city in Anhui, Bozhou is known for its medicinal herbs with 500 variations of Chinese medicinal herbs grown across 165,000 acres (66773 ha).
In April, the council’s general manager John Bell travelled to China as part of the Regional Development Australia Southern Inland delegation. This delegation was tasked with identifying economic opportunities as well as connecting with international trade partners and future investors.
The delegation met with representatives of the Bozhou Municipal Government and they indicated they would be very interested in visiting Upper Lachlan with a view to having discussions around economic opportunities.
The council’s acting general manager Gary Woodman said the sister-city relationship was an exciting opportunity for the shire.
“The sister-city relationship with Bozhou will showcase the shire to a population of 3 million people, opening the possibility for business, tourism and other economic opportunities,” he said.
