The Crookwell U13s soccer team played at home on the weekend against Workers in a Division 1 clash.
Goulburn Workers started the game at a fast pace and with some silky passing it wasn’t long until they found the back of the net. Crookwell regrouped quickly and Oliver Grey was given an opportunity midway through the first half, only to miss by a whisker. Crookwell’s watertight defense gave Workers little opportunity to score again but the locals were troubling the visitors. Riley Salt was in the perfect spot to finish a cross from Aaron Lloyd but the Workers goalkeeper was in the right spot at the right time to deny him. After the great save, the game went into a real arm wrestle. With only seconds left in the game, Crookwell launched one last raid only to see the ball just go over the crossbar to finish with a final result of 1-0 down.
This weekend they face frontrunners Soldiers, who to this point have remain undefeated. With the return of three players this week our kids are hoping to give Soldiers a run for their money.
Crookwell U15s Soccer

The Crookwell under 15 soccer team suffered a serious blow to their semi-final chances with a disappointing 5-2 loss to Trinity on Saturday.
All the damage was caused in the first half, conceding two early goals before raising hopes of a revival with a goal to Josh Merryfull. This hope didn’t last long with Trinity finding the back of the net twice more before half time.
The second half was a more competitive affair with our locals providing more resistance, as well as more positivity in attack. The two major highlights for the reds were a screamer of a goal from Oscar Rose, volleying from the top of the 18 yard box, and Rylee Luck saving a spot kick.
It has been a challenging year for the team, playing several games with 10 players or less and having to rely on the availability of the three amigos from the U13s (Chad, Rylan & Aaron) to help with numbers. They are still in the hunt but will have to raise their level of play, defeat Stags on Saturday and hope future results go their way for any chance of making the finals.
