The fourth round of the national motor-racing series will be themed as “Drive for Drought Relief”, in conjunction with the Rural Aid “Buy a Bale” program.

A percentage of ticket sales will be donated to Buy a Bale, and key AMRS suppliers are contributing to the cause. Spectators and competitors will also have the opportunity to make direct donations throughout the weekend, going in the draw to win hot laps in a Toyota 86 or two-seater Legend Car.

The AMRS is promoted by the Benalla Auto Club, one of Australia’s largest car clubs, and BAC Group CEO Chris Lewis-Williams said the chance to support a worthy cause such as Buy a Bale is in line with the club’s rural roots.

“The BAC may have grown into one of the most powerful motorsport organisations in the country, owning two major motorsport facilities, but we need to remember that it started as a small, humble club in north-eastern rural Victoria,” Mr Lewis-Williams said.

“Many club members, past and present, know what it’s like to deal with unforgiving climatic conditions, and it’s appropriate that we use our marquee national series to raise awareness and funding for a cause that’s close to the hearts and minds of rural and regional Australia.

“The Wakefield Park round is the perfect location for our “Drive for Drought Relief” round, because Goulburn is a regional centre where the impacts of severe drought conditions are known only too well.”

The AMRS event will feature a range of national categories including GT-1 Australia, Performax TA2 Muscle Car Series, Legend Cars, Mazda RX8 Cup, IROC Challenge, Miniature Race Cars, Aussie Racing Utes, Outlaw V8s and Group 4/Super 6 Touring Cars. Mr Lewis-Williams said the weekend is a great chance for families to enjoy some exciting racing while supporting a worthy cause.

“It’s only the first year of the AMRS, but the categories on the program have produced some exciting racing in our first three rounds, and there’s something for everyone,” he said.

“From exotic sports cars in the GT-1 category to loud, sideways V8s in the TA2 series, there will be entertainment aplenty over the course of the weekend.”
