The day began with 22 ladies who enjoyed a very spirited game of bowls, said President Janet Crocker.
Guests then joined the bowlers for lunch catered for by the Service’s Club.
Mrs Crocker discussed the history of the club, and its beginnings.
The early meetings were held in the Criterion lounge room, with seventeen ladies in attendance who founded the club in 1950.
Annual fees were a guinea, or one pound and one shilling, and the green fees were sixpence.
In February 1958, Crookwell was the instigator of the formation of the Goulburn and District Association. They must have been movers and shakers, Mrs Crocker said.
Over the years the club has achieved many successes: Mrs Hilda Kitchen, 1st Club Champion 1953; Champions of Country C Penants, 1958 – 59, and runner up in State C Pennant; Champion of Champions bowlers Miss M Williams, Mrs E Chudleigh, Mrs D Heaton, and Mrs J Hayes. “We look forward to future celebrations,” Mrs Crocker said.
