“[The awards] are an opportunity to recognise exceptional examples of citizenship and achievement within the Shire,” said Upper Lachlan Shire General Manager John Bell.
“The ULS has a wonderful sense of community and there are many individuals and community groups whose contributions go unrecognised.
“The Australia Day awards are an opportunity to honour our unsung heroes for their outstanding contributions to the local community,” he said.
2019 local Australia Day award categories:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Event of the Year
The winners will be announced on January 26 as part of council’s Australia Day celebrations.
