Councillors Stafford and Searl were selected to their respective positions by their fellow councillors at tonights ordinary council meeting held at the council chambers in Crookwell.
Cr Stafford was elected to the council in September 2016. He was selected as deputy mayor by councillors upon his commencement with the council and re-selected for the position in September 2017.
Cr Stafford has also been the councils delegate on various Section 355 Committees, as well as the councils representative or delegate on numerous non-council committees.
Cr Searl has been a councillor for two consecutive terms, having first been elected to the council in 2012.
During his time on the council, Cr Searl has been the councils delegate on numerous Section 355 committees and the councils representative or delegate on various non-council committees that span the Shires towns and villages.
Upper Lachlan Shire Councils general manager John Bell congratulated the duo on their selection.
Cr Stafford and Cr Searl will no doubt be a strong leadership team who will bring fresh ideas and perspectives to their respective roles, Mr Bell said.
On behalf of council staff, I would like to congratulate them on their election and look forward to working with them to meet the needs and expectations of the local community.
I would also like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of outgoing mayor Brian McCormack, who held the position since September 2016.
Under the Local Government Act 1993, the mayoral term for mayors selected by councillors is two years.
In 2016, Upper Lachlan Shire Councillors voted for the position of deputy mayor to be held for one year.
