For a gold coin donation youngsters aged five and up can create colourful scrunch art patterns and designs at the Crookwell Library craft table from 2-3pm every day of the October school holidays. The library will provide the templates and craft materials – you bring the inspiration. For further information, contact Crookwell Library on 4832 1048.
A free Waterbugs Workshop will be held at Gunning Library from 10.30am-12.30pm on Friday, October 5 for kids aged eight and up. It’s an opportunity to learn about weird and wonderful species in our local waterways. The workshop will begin at Gunning Library and continue with a walk to Barbour Park/Meadow Creek. Bookings are essential on 0488 027 653 or coordinator@gunningdistrictlandcare.org.au
Both libraries also have a huge catalogue of books, DVDs, music and digital collections available to borrow.
If your kids prefer outdoor activities you could explore the Wombeyan Caves or take a bushwalk through the Abercrombie River National Park or Grabine Lakeside State Park.
If they’re into skateboards, scooters, bikes and blades you could visit the shire’s skate parks in Crookwell, Gunning and Taralga.
They can also run off some energy at their nearest playground. Gunning Public School’s playground will also be open from 8.30am-5pm throughout the school holidays as part of the NSW Government’s Share Our Space Program.
