Crookwell local Kayla Gann was a part of the Australian Women’s 27s team who claimed victory at the Tag Football World Cup, which was held in Coffs Harbour from November 1 to November 4.

The team went through the tournament undefeated from their eight games, and Gann said that the team’s success was a pleasant surprise.
“[The week] far exceeded my expectations,” she said.
Having dominated the weekend, Australia played and defeated Ireland in the grand final, 8-0.
A particular highlight of the tournament for Gann, aside from the team’s success, was the bond she formed with her teammates.
“I went into it not knowing many of the girls that I was playing with,” Gann said.
“I met friends for life out of it.”
A member of the Goulburn Bulldogs league tag side which made the grand final earlier this year, Gann said that that experience was helpful to her last weekend.
And, perhaps more crucial, was the presence of Gann’s family, who traveled to Coffs Harbour with her.
“I’ve got massive family support,” she said.
“Without family support, especially [that of] my husband, I wouldn’t have been able to compete nor travel to Canberra for training.
“Having them by my side watching our team win [the] World Cup made all the hard work, travel and sacrifice worth it.”
