“Hart’s Pharmacy, with a few owners through the years, began sometime in the 1930s,” says owner and pharmacist Ken Wicks.
“The site was a barber shop before that,” Ken added.
“I assume the need for pharmacy services became apparent.”
Ken has also been in Crookwell for a long time.
“I came in 1971, and since then have seen three generations in local families, most of whom I know by their first name.”
Ken and staff have also been active involved in the community. “A good example is the annual Christmas tree raffle which began in 1985.
“Staff members are also prominent on various committees in town as part of their parental duties.
“Since 1971 I have undertaken roles in a varied number of town committees advancing the case for our wonderful town and citizens.”
As for the area’s pharmacy needs, these include “Prescription services, health related products, cosmetics, gift lines, to name a few,” says Ken.
Those services and products, and several others, are provided by about 10 staff with variety of individual roles and job descriptions.
These include pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, Webster packers (sometimes also known as dispensary technicians), cleaners, and more.
Ken believes that it’s the people that makes his business special.
“All our staff are trained to make sure that every customer remembers and values their visits to Hart’s Pharmacy.”
This happens as a result “Because we care and strive to do our best for each and every customer.”
Pharmacists are also a very trusted profession, as Ken has noticed himself. “People value a pharmacist’s advice, perhaps more so than ever, being the first port of call.”
Ken also stressed the need for people to seek their professional advice, especially when your medical requirements are involved.
“Medication mishaps occur when well-meaning friends give advice about something they know nothing about,” Ken said caringly.
Hart’s Pharmacy is located at 78 Goulburn Street, Crookwell.
