Starting at 11am outside the Disability Trust on the corner of Auburn and Verner Street,  those involved will walk along Auburn Street to Belmore Park.

At the park, there will be some speeches from local members of parliament, the White Ribbon Ambassador Daniel Strickland and the Hume Police District Commander Chris Schilt.

“Currently, 200 students from local schools are expected to take part as well as 100 to 150 community members,” Mr Strickland said.

“I’d love for that number to increase, so bring your workplace along and stand together in bringing across the message that domestic violence in the community is not tolerated.”

In the lead up to the event, Mr Strickland, who is also Mission Australia’s Area Manager of South Eastern NSW and ACT, was at Gunning Library with Constable Daniel Wise to promote the event.

“I talked about how Mission Australia and other local charities are there to help,” Mr Strickland said. 

“Constable Wise encouraged people to speak out on the issue, to take action and not to ignore it.”

Mr Strickland also held a preview for the walk on Monday, November 19, in Goulburn’s Belmore Park along with domestic violence committee members.
