Motorists have been advised the speed limit will lower, from 80 kilometres per hour to 60km/h, between Chinaman’s Lane and Mary’s Mount Road.
As well as this, the speed limit on Mary’s Mount Road will be reduced to 60 kilometres per hour from Crookwell Road to Middle Arm Road.
A Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) spokesperson said a review of the speed limit on Crookwell Road was carried out following a request from Goulburn Mulwaree Council.
RMS assessed crash history, road usage, adjacent development and traffic volumes, and concluded the 80 kilometre per hour zone was no longer considered appropriate.
“The completion of recent development has extended the residential area further north and led to increased vehicle volumes and increased pedestrian movements,” a spokesperson from RMS said.
“This speed limit reduction will make it safer for local residents and is aimed at reducing the likelihood of crashes.”
Temporary warning signs will be in place along Crookwell Road to advise motorists of the change.
