President Rosemary Seary and minutes secretary Jenny Painter presented Beverly Houterman, Rural Financial Counsellor ten $100 supermarket vouchers on Thursday, December 13.
The CWA campaign raised money through the sale of chocolates and choccy-themed goods to purchase the vouchers to give to local farmers in time for Christmas.
“While we have recently received some much-needed rain there are still farming families in our local community who are struggling as a result of the drought,” Mrs Seary said.
“Choccies for the Cockies was a small way to help ease some of the financial burden faced by some local farming families and help raise their spirits this Christmas.”
The campaign has made Christmas a little brighter for local farming families impacted by drought.
Mrs Houterman would now give the ten $100 supermarket vouchers to farming families in need in the Upper Lachlan Shire in time for Christmas.
Mrs Seary thanked the local community, businesses and community facilities for getting behind the campaign.
“On behalf of the evening branch, I would like to thank everyone who made the campaign possible from the businesses and community organisations who housed fundraising boxes.
“To the individuals who bought our choccies and the local media and schools who helped publicise the campaign.
“We couldn’t have done it without you,” Mrs Seary said.
