About 10.55am on Sunday December 16, a 69-year-old man was riding a motorcycle northwest on Junction Road, Crooked Corner when, near the intersection of the Tuena Creek Crossing, he failed to negotiate a left-hand bend and fell to the roadway.
The fall resulted in fatal injuries, said Hume Police District Inspector Allison Brennan.
Another motorcycle, ridden by a 58-year-old man, happened to be travelling southeast in the opposite direction of the other at the time.
Investigators suggest the man may have tried to avoid a collision before clipping the other motorcycle and coming off his bike.
He sustained shoulder and pelvic injuries and was airlifted to Canberra Hospital for treatment.
Hume police attended the scene and were required to establish road closures for a short period.
Inspector Brennan reminded motorists to pay close attention to advisory signs on the road.
There was a speed-limit advisory sign of 35 kilometres per hour before the crash site, she said.
“These advisory signs are there for a reason,” she said.
Officers from Hume Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
