There are many people who do not have a place to call home on Christmas Day or the company to share the hope and joy of the season with others, but this doesn’t mean Christmas should be spent alone.

Now in its second year, St Bart’s Anglican Church will host a community lunch open to anyone who wants to spend the day in the company of others.
“Young, old and in-between, on your own, with friends, families, all welcome.”
The free event which is held at midday at St Bart’s Anglican Hall is just about sharing the day with others, “no strings attached”, said Reverand Wayne Landford.
“The whole idea behind it is we know people who do not have someone to share Christmas with… come along and enjoy it.
“From all congregations, it doesn’t matter who you are, or if you go to Church.”
The Rev’d Landford, his wife and five children will attend, and about 30 people have already shown interest, which would double the attendance numbers in 2018.
“When I first came here I wanted to ensure people are living Christ’s word, my thoughts were to encourage people but they were already doing it.”
The Rev’d Landford who was ordained three years ago has spent the last two years in Crookwell.
I asked to be sent to the country, he said, “I want that sense of community.”
The congregation and local businesses have donated food and money for the Christmas lunch, and St Bart’s recently sent out 20 hampers to people in need or people who need some care this Christmas.
