The shire has retained its position as the most expensive place in the Southern Inlands to rent a home, that is despite a recent two per cent drop in median house rental costs.
The recently-released Domain Rental Report for the December 2018 quarter shows the median cost to rent homes and units in the region and how they have changed during the past few years.
In Wingecarribee, the median weekly asking rent for a home is $500 which the data shows is actually a 2.0 per cent drop on the $510 paid by renters one year ago.
Despite the drop, the cost remains higher than in the Yass Valley ($400) and Goulburn/Mulwaree ($370).
While Wingecarribee might have experienced a decline in the median rental cost for homes during the past year, the other locations became a little more expensive.
Rents in the Yass Valley spiked by 6.7 per cent (from $375 to $400), while Goulburn/Mulwaree jumped by 5.7 per cent (from $350 to $370).
Data from Domain also showed median rents for Goulburn/Mulwaree with renters now paying 4.3 per cent more than they did one year ago, with weekly costs jumping from $235 to $245.
Unit rental costs in Wingecarribee and the Yass Valley were not included in the report.
Meanwhile, many investors with properties along in the Southern Inlands experienced a drop in rental yield during the past 12 months.
In Goulburn/Mulwaree the gross rental yields fell 5.5 per cent on homes, while in Wingecarribee they dipped by -0.2 per cent.
Rental yields in the Yass Valley were not included in report.
