There will be rides, competitions, and an array of country exhibits.
“It’s a wonderful community event that involves the community at large, and it focuses on our strong agricultural heritage,” Upper Lachlan Shire mayor John Stafford said.
“It’s a great family atmosphere and a showpiece for Taralga.”
President of the Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Committee Stuart Keith is enthused that the show has been able to maintain all the livestock events this year, including the sheep, cattle, and team-sorting events.
There is also a full-range of pavilion competitions, including the cooking, fancy work, photography, poultry, home brew and more.
The cookery section includes the “topical” male selection of prizes for the top cake and top six rock cakes made by a male.
Judging in the pavilion is on Friday, March 8.
Saturday is “top-heavy” with events, Mr Keith said.
The commercial cattle judging, prime cattle judging, quick shear, dog high jump, horse events, the quick shear and more will be held on Saturday, and the official opening will be held at 2pm.
The presentation of the supreme exhibit in the pasture competition will be awarded at the opening.
On Sunday, the winner of the Taralga Flock Ewe will be announced. The top two finalists will enter into the regional competition, the Southen Tablelands Flock Ewe, judged on-farm on Friday, March 15.
There will be a grand parade held on Sunday afternoon at around 2pm.
“We welcome everyone to the grand parade on Sunday afternoon as a celebration of this year’s show.”
The country show will take place at the Taralga Showground on the corner of Walsh Street and Bannaby Road on Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10.
Admission: adults is $15; pensioners $5; children between 8-16 is $2; for children under 8 admission is free.
