Since the original comic series was released to the rise of Marvel and DC, comic book artists, writers, and animators have captured the hearts and minds of people across the world.
On Saturday, two local young illustrators took home top honours for their illustrated stories.
Crookwell High School students Katie Simpson (14) and Cody Wachs (13) were awarded top accolades at the 2019 Goulburn Comic Con on Saturday, March 16.
Katie, was awarded the top Golden Ram Award and Cody, highly commended for their illustrated stories.
Both of the young comics created a one page comic featuring 'Rambo', Goulburn's big merino.
Judged by Australian fantasy author, Isobelle Carmody, an awarded science-fiction, fantasy young-adult and children's literature writer.
Katie, who reads Marvel comics, and watches television cartoon Steven Universe said she has been drawing since before she can remember. "I thought it [the comic] would be unique, it had to be the big merino on an adventure," Katie said.
Cody, a surprise entrant, said she wasn't going to enter until a teacher saw her cartoon and inspired her to submit an entry.
The contest was part of the Goulburn Comic Con held at Goulburn Mulwaree Library, both young comics featured in the 13-17 year age group.
