The Child and Family Health Nursing service, which operated a free children's health check service, has been suspended indefinitely, customers say.
Stephanie Wise, mother of 11-month-old Jack, is especially concerned that new mothers won't be able to access a similar service.
"This service enables people who are isolated by distance to link with others in the community; in particular, new mothers," she said.
Parents were given a week's notice that appointments had been cancelled, as of April 4.
The child and family health nurses provided speciality care in child development, family functioning, infant mental health and health promotion, three times a month in Gunning.
Mrs Wise said they provided "measurements and health checks for babies through each stage, immunisations, and any concerns that you have
"You could go and chat to [the nurse] and [they] can talk through those concerns.
"I had immunisations booked in May for 12-month shots, and we now either go to the GP or to Goulburn."
Goulburn Community Health, operated by the Southern NSW Local Health District, was primarily used by residents in Gunning, Dalton and Gundaroo, although rural patients who lived up to 50 kilometres outside of Gunning also accessed the service.
Parents want the service back. "We aren't asking for new services!" Mrs Wise said.
"No assurances have been given that this service is going to be restored, and we are worried it is going to get swept under the carpet."
SNSWLHD was requested for comment on the status of the service in Gunning but did not reply before deadline.
