Fonua-Blake raised eyebrows last week when he posted a photo on social media of him leaving WIN Stadium in a moon boot, even though has was suspended and had walked into the ground freely.

But the Tongan powerhouse revealed he hurt the ankle when he tripped over while training in the days after being banned, but there was no long-term concern over his fitness.

"I was in a moon boot. I hurt my ankle out here training last week and it was just precautionary, trying to take a load off it," Fonua-Blake told AAP.

"No, definitely no concerns (about coming back in round eight).

"If Dessie (Hasler) chooses me, I will definitely be back in the team."

Fonua-Blake also stressed he had no regrets over his to-and-fro earlier this month with the Newcastle crowd after being sin-binned for a high shot on Mitchell Pearce.

The 23-year-old, one of the Sea Eagles' best this year, copped a ban over the hit due to carryover points and weighting from previous incidents.

"If someone says something to me, I'm not going to take it to heart," Fonua-Blake said.

"I think it's fun. I said something back. They might have found it fun, too, or maybe they took it to heart.

"It made it a more interesting game. It definitely felt like the last 10 minutes was more interesting. Something was said but I'm happy to leave it at that."
