Judge Ian Tonacia said the ram was of superior conformation, with a great fleece of a fine wool type which covers the sire throughout.

This is the second time the Talkook sire has been sashed as champion, he also placed Junior Champion Sire at the 2018 Royal Melbourne Show.

'Talkook' Border Leicester rams and ewes placed in several classes.

It was a very proud moment for stud principal Mr Anderson and his daughter-in-law Kylie.

They have worked tirelessly to further develop the genetics of the stud, Scott Anderson said.

On the day, Ms Anderson said, "the ram is a result of Bob's dedication and passion for the sheep industry for the last seventy years.

"I've been listening and learning from Bob for the past fifteen years, and by combining his hands-on knowledge of the breed, implementing the science of genetics, and using market advice from agents, we are really starting to see some great results."

The stud has been harnessing a micron testing program with emphasis placed on selected wool types, Scott said.

Ninety-five Border Leicester sheep were exhibited at the show, and 488 other breeds.
