Dennis O'Brien said home-brewers can get creative with their flavours.

The Brew and Bake is a celebration of craft beer and falls on the same day as another annual beer celebration, the Great Australasian Beer Spectacular in Melbourne.

"It's all about tasting... people are looking for a little bit extra in their beer," Mr O'Brien said.

"You can go anywhere and get your factory beer."

The tap list includes a cider, an alcoholic ginger beer,

a black ale, an old, a stout and a couple of draughts.

"With the alcoholic ginger beer, people just come back for that in droves, its something you don't pick up most places."

On Saturday the showground will transform into a hub of hearty food and home-brew. There will be an open bonfire and live entertainment. "It is as much about relaxing and having a yarn," Mr O'Brien said.

"Even on the coldest nights, it's still nice and warm once you start singing around the open fire."

The Southern Tablelands Vintage Farm Machinery Club will have old motors on display and there will be a troupe of other displays.

There will be campfire cooks, and roasts. "People have their own inventions on display, like camp ovens, there may be a smoker."

The Brew and Bake will begin on Saturday, May 18 at 1pm with a soup and damper lunch, until Sunday, May 19.

The entry fee is $30 per person to be paid at the Crookwell Showground (contributors to the cookout will receive free entry at the discretion of the organisers). For people who attend the poet's breakfast on Sunday there is an entry fee of $10 per person. Children under 15-years are free.
