On Wednesday, July 3 the ageing system at both the Crookwell and Gunning library will be replaced with a new online program, Spydus.
The program uses modern technology and offers enhanced cataloguing of the libraries' inventories and borrower details. Customers can reserve multiple items; create an online list of must-read books; sign up to a text message service. The program will also improve access to eBooks and eAudio.
During the transition, between June 27 to July 2, the library will have limited services. "Members and library staff will not be able to renew library items, search for items on the library's catalogue, reserve items, or access their own library account to reserve or renew items," Upper Lachlan Shire Council's manager of library services, Michaela Olda said.
There will be limited access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMagazines. Books can still be borrowed and returned, but members are asked to carry a copy of their library card with them.
During this time, new borrowers and customers can still register.
