The focus for all the staff is to foster a positive attitude and a growth mindset in students.
This has been enhanced through professional learning opportunities, specifically a course called How2Learn, a strategy focused on building students capacity to learn.
It helps students to develop a learner's 'toolkit' that gives young people the skills to become:
- Successful learners, who enjoy learning, making connections with real life.
- Confident Individuals who are able to live a safe, healthy and fulfilling life.
- Active and responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to present and future generations.
"Staff understand that all students can rise to any challenge once taught the skills they need and are provided opportunities to practise these skills until they become habits," he said.
"We encourage our children to be resilient and manage their distractions, persevere with challenging learning tasks and ways to absorb new information.
"I am excited about the future of Crookwell Public School - we have a strong learning community of schools and as a network we are looking at future focused learning.
"In 2018 we, with our other local public schools, started our STEM journey with Crookwell High School as the lead school.
"The skills our students are acquiring and building on such as creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking is quite amazing as these skills will set these students for success no matter the path they choose in the future."
