The replacement footbridge over Kiamma Creek in Pat Cullen Reserve could be named after the Upper Lachlan Shire's most well-known poet.

The old timber footbridge which has been replaced by a steel-concrete bridge and is nearing completion could be known as the Dame Mary Gilmore Bridge.
Members of the Upper Lachlan Dame Mary Gilmore Society proposed the name for the council's consideration.
In a letter to the council president of the society, Trevene Mattox and secretary Elaine Delaney wrote the name, "would be in recognition of undoubtedly, our Shire's most famous daughter's childhood origins."
"It links the old with the new," Ms Mattox said. "She was very influential in so many areas and she was born 15 kilometres from the bridge."
The name, and signage, would educate visitors to the reserve and is a "tribute" to the poet.
The motion to proceed to public display was moved by the councillors at the council meeting on June 20.
The council will seek feedback on the naming of the footbridge, acting general manager Andrew Croke said. It will be placed on public exhibition for 28 days between June 27 and July 26.
