In backlash to the 2018 NSW Parliamentary Enquiry into live music in NSW the band established Chucka Buckas to support the live music and emerging artists. In a statement, The Rubens said small venues are critical to developing careers in music.
Since the band announced the first tour of Chucka Buckas, playing in towns from Bathurst to Gerringong. They will be joined by solo-artist, singer and guitarist powerhouse Milan Ring, and contemporary hip-hop and alternative punk three-piece Shady Nasty.
The idea is to take emerging artists on the road to raise their profile, while also building touring circuits across regional hubs.
Since their debut in 2012, the band from Menangle had top five for three of their albums. Their second album Hoops placed no.2 in the Aria charts. This year, smash single Never Ever featuring Sarah Aarons won Best Rock Work of the Year at the APRA awards, and it reached double platinum. The band also released their show MTV Unplugged.
- The Rubens play at the Astor Hotel, Goulburn Saturday, August 10 from 8pm to 11.30pm. Tickets $53.50 via eventopia.co.
