This is a chance for anyone wanting to pick up an additional income, learn new skills and serve their community.
The station is actively recruiting to fill positions.
"We have an active crew of 11 firefighters and we are able to have a crew of 16," Captain Glenn Bonomini said.
Between October 2018 to the end of June, crews attended 90 jobs, Captain Bonomini said.
"No two jobs are the same," he said.
"We've responded to calls of automatic fire alarms, motor vehicle accidents, ambulance assists for medical emergencies, as well as animal rescues."
In what could have been a scene from an old film, last October a crew of Crookwell firefighters rescued a cat from a tree. The cat had been stuck there for three nights.
Animal rescues are not that unusual for the tight-knit crew. More recently, they rescued a magpie from an antenna pole.
The magpie's leg had become tangled in wire preventing it from escape, Captain Bonomini said.
To join, there is an online application, followed by an interview, physical aptitude test and medical screening, Captain Bonomini said.
"Successful applicants then undergo two stages of training and some station-based training twice a month minimum, with ongoing support from the training centre in Sydney, with the option to learn some specialist skills such as rescue."
Call Captain Glenn Bonomini on 0427 264 482 to find out what retained firefighters do and ask any questions.
Applications are open and will remain open until the available positions have been filled.
