Having left a run at finals until the very last moment, the Green Devils will go into this weekend's clash against needing a win over the UC Grizzlies.
They will simultaneously need the Boorowa Rovers to lose to the Hawks, and the Binalong Brahmans to go down to the Bungendore Tigers.
Crookwell currently sit at sixth on the ladder, with 20 points. Boorowa and Binalong are in fourth and fifth respectively, both with 22.
These factors make a finals berth far from assured, but while the slimmest hope remains, the Green Devils will put all of their energy into this weekend's clash.
After a season in which the team's best form has been elusive, the last two fixtures have seen Crookwell rediscover the kind of football which produced a premiership in 2018.
Their last two matches have seen the Green Devils produce the quick, smooth passing and fast running which was a hallmark of their 2018 side.
Should they continue that form this weekend, particularly against a struggling UC side, they will give themselves the best possible chance of scraping into the top four.
The Green Devils will take on the UC Grizzlies at 2pm on Sunday August 18 at Raiders Belconnen.
