The latest report from the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research released in September shows offences fell by around 10 per cent between July 2017 to June 2018 and July 2018 to June 2019.
Officer in charge of Crookwelll Police Station Inspector Matthew Hinton said the Upper Lachlan is a safe place to work and live. He said collaboration between the community and police will further enhance these results.
"Crime has a significant impact on those that are affected and police constantly strive to prevent crime through education and sharing information."
The offence with the highest rate is malicious damage to property with 29 offences, this has been falling since the same period in 2014-15 and has remained steady since 2017-18.
Offences which fell included, prohibited and regulated weapon offences, trespass, steal from dwelling, stock theft and fraud. But there was an increase in break and enter dwelling, non-domestic violence related assault, and motor vehicle theft.
Inspector Hinton said police are disrupting offenders by being highly visible in high-crime areas, or areas of past activity.
"The message to our community is to ensure they make it as hard as possible for offenders, by locking their cars and homes and reporting suspicious behaviour at the time it occurs."
The number of possession and/or use of amphetamines rose, as did dealing, trafficking in other drugs.
"We as a community know of the harm that prohibited drugs do to people. Police are actively searching people and cars to find drugs and disrupt criminal behaviour resulting in increased reporting," Inspector Hinton said.
