With two teams into their grand finals, Crookwell claimed close victories in both to come away with a sparkling finish to 2019.
Under 13s
The Under 13s Division Two final between Crookwell and the Workers F.C. was a fittingly nervous affair as both teams grappled for the lead throughout the game.
The Workers got off to an early lead 15 minutes into the match, but the girls from Crookwell refused to lie down and leveled the scores three minutes later courtesy of a goal from Emma Ward.
1-1 remained the score until half time, as both sides jostled for control.
In the second half, Crookwell took an early lead thanks to a strong goal from Lilly Skelly, which set off raucous celebrations.
Heartache was soon to follow though, as an unlucky handball ruling saw the Workers draw level with a penalty goal.
With three minutes remaining, a draw was unacceptable to young Lilly, and she slotted her second goal of the match with a phenomenal kick from the left wing.
Pandemonium erupted at this point, and the Workers could not break through before the full-time buzzer rang to signal Crookwell's 3-2 victory.
For her pair of goals and strong efforts in both attack and defence, Lilly Skelly was named the Player of the Match.
Under 15s
The Under 15s Division One grand final between Crookwell and Stags '97 was described by Crookwell coach Bill Merryfull as "an extremely exciting and tense match between two ultra-competitive and evenly matched teams".
The match began slowly and steadily built up momentum as the clock ticked down. At half time, neither side had scored despite some valiant advances.
In the second half, four goals were scored.
Crookwell was first on the board, thanks to a goal from Cameron Herd. However, their elation was short-lived as the Stags' Charlie McCall replied two minutes later.
In the 64th minute of the match, Crookwell went up again when Riley George outran the Stags goalkeeper to put his side up 2-1.
Not to be dismissed, the Stags surged towards the Crookwell goals and, though Crookwell keeper Rylan Olde kept one shot out, Charlie slotted the rebound to once again bring the Stags level.
After two grueling ten-minute extra time segments, Rylee Luck found the back of the net with one of the last kicks of the game.
Merryfull praised his team and said that "no one person deserves to be acknowledged as the result was nothing short of an outstanding team performance."
