Diagnosed six years ago with an aggressive form of breast cancer, the 44-year-old underwent a first-round of treatment just 10 days after her diagnosis. Thanks to early detection and ongoing treatment these days Mrs George is cancer-free.
During a self-examination Mrs George detected a change, however, she didn't find a lump.
"I was really blown away by the fact that I didn't find a lump," she said.
"Everyone says check your breast for lumps, check your breasts but don't expect to find a lump, your nipple can change or your breast can change shape or size."
At 38, and no family history of the disease, she thought she was too young.
"Don't think you can put it off, no matter what age you are."
A passionate advocate for the McGrath breast care nurses Mrs George is urging the town to turn pink to support others, and the continued care provided by the nurses.
The McGrath nurses through every stage of Mrs George's treatment provided physical, psychological and emotional support for her and her family from diagnosis, throughout treatment.

"The day I walked into the cancer centre at Bowral, I didn't know anything abut a McGrath nurse," she said.
"She sat with me and explained everything, she came to every appointment with me, she said if I ever need anything at any time - day or night - call me.
"They were such a fabulous help to me and my family," she said.
"Even my kids, they were nine and eleven at the time she found them books relevant for them, and talked to them about it."
This is why she is throwing her weight behind pinking up Crookwell.
"Anything that raises money for that is a good thing, and there is a lot of women around here, it's nice to have someone they can call on."
