Rollonin Country Fair at Bowning

It's been seven years since Rollonin Cafe owner Renata Ryan lost her husband Tony to melanoma. Prior to diagnosis, she had no idea how prevalent the condition was. Tony had held the Country Fair at the cafe for two years before he passed away. Today, Renata and the family continue the event in his memory, with proceeds going to local cancer patients via Yass Valley Can Assist. There will be fun for the whole family this year with a scarecrow competition; X Factor dogs (flyball and tricks); market stalls; live blacksmith, shearing and wool spinning demonstrations, bush poetry and music; and Can Assist's barbecue and fairy floss stall.

Marshall Okell at Tatts Goulburn

Having worked his way through no less than five tour vans, an unwavering dedication to the stage and what can only be described as some time 'off the rails', Marshall Okell boasts a live crowd following that puts most working musicians to shame. He has played alongside the likes of John Butler, Ben Harper, Wolfmother, Buddy Guy, The Cat Empire, Jeff Lang, Gomez and Xavier Rudd. He's mostly known to locals for playing in the band Marshall and The Fro, who have played at many blues festivals in Goulburn.
Music in the Park
- Saturday, November 16, 11am to 4pm at Pat Cullen Reserve, Crookwell. Entry by gold coin donation.
Music in the Park is a family-friendly, community annual event organised by the Kiamma Creek Landcare Group. Bring a picnic rug and enjoy country catering and listen to musicians, singers and balladeers. Performers include the Liverpool Brass Band, Lester Ives on the didgeridoo, Maggie Somerville and Matt Ford. This year's event includes bush poets performing verse ranging from traditional collections to modern verse, including satirical and comic verse. An open mic session for performers and poets will be compered by Laurie McDonald. There is plenty of room in the park for people to enjoy the music outdoors, with face-painting and a treasure hunt for the kids.
